FRANKFURT — Volkswagen was hit by a significant IT outage on Wednesday, Europe’s prime carmaker stated, including that manufacturing on the carmaker’s namesake model in Germany had come to a halt in consequence.
Volkswagen stated that the entire group, which incorporates the Porsche AG and Audi manufacturers, was affected.
A spokesperson for Audi confirmed that manufacturing on the division had been impacted, too, including it was at the moment being analyzed to what extent.

Volkswagen stated there had been an unspecified “IT malfunction of community elements” on the carmaker’s web site in Wolfsburg, its world headquarters.
