Only days after German automotive giant Volkswagen unveiled an expanded range for its ID.3 all-electric hatchback, the company has revealed new, more powerful variants for its popular ID.7 electric sedan.
Four new ID.7 variants include the new ID.7 GTX, ID.7 GTX Tourer, ID.7 Pro S, and ID.7 Tourer Pro S, all of which will begin pre-sale in Germany this week, each of which will include a larger 86kWh battery helping to deliver more power and range.
Previously, the ID.7 had been available only in a Pro version, though Volkswagen has been teasing new variants all year – including the announcement of the ID.7 Tourer in February and the GTX badge for its ID.3 and ID.7 lineup in March.

The ID.7 GTX fastback will deliver output of 250kW and 350 horsepower to its electric all-wheel drive and retail from €63,155. The newly upgraded power delivers acceleration from 0-100km/h in 5.4 seconds while the battery boasts a range of up to 595km (WLTP).
According to Volkswagen, the ID.7 GTX’s battery will be able to be charged with up to 200kW at DC fast charging stations, charging at its quickest from 10 to 80 per cent in just 26 minutes.

As befits the company’s sporty GTX lineup, a number of specific GTX design features are noticeable on the front and back of the car, and inside. New 20-inch Skagen alloy wheels with diamond-cut surfaces combine with IQ.LIGHT LED matrix headlights with illuminated Volkswagen logos at the front and rear, as well as front daytime running lights designed specifically for the GTX.
Inside, red contrasting topstitching and perforated GTX lettering on the backrests deliver a racy look to its seats, while a 30-colour ambient lighting system provides expansive customisability.
Other standard equipment in the ID.7 GTX include wireless App-Connect for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, the augmented reality head-up display, the IDA voice assistant with integrated ChatGPT (AI/artificial intelligence), a two-zone automatic air conditioner, the keyless locking, and starting system Keyless Access and an anti-theft alarm system.

Unsurprisingly, the ID.7 GTX Tourer will be identical in terms of technology to the ID.7 GTX, however the Tourer will naturally include a much larger luggage area, capable of holding up to 605 litres with five people on board.
As such, given the slight modification to the car’s overall shape, the ID.7 GTX Tourer accelerates from 0 to 100km/h in a slightly slower 5.5 seconds and offers range of up to 585km.
Two new Pro S models will also join the lineup, the ID.7 Pro S and ID.7 Tourer Pro S, both with the 86kWh battery which pumps the total range up to 709km and 690km, respectively, while otherwise mirroring the equipment and technology of the standard Pro models.
The news comes just days after Volkswagen announced a similar expansion to its top-selling ID.3 all-electric hatchback, which included new entry-level Pure, enhanced Pro, and a more powerful GTX.
