Scotland awards major charging contract to EasyGo

A groundbreaking partnership has been established within the north of Scotland as a part of the Scottish Authorities’s Electrical Car Infrastructure Fund. This collaboration marks the primary inter-council contract of its form within the area and represents the biggest grant awarded for the reason that fund’s inception.

Underneath this initiative, EasyGo will set up 570 new charging factors throughout the north of Scotland by 2028. As well as, the corporate will undertake and keep 425 current council-owned stations, which comprise 133 DC and 292 AC charging factors. The partnership can even present entry to over 50 hub areas for high-capacity charging.

Ollie Chatten, CEO of EasyGo, expressed enthusiasm for the partnership, stating, “The dedication of Scottish councils to realize Web Zero by 2030 aligns seamlessly with EasyGo’s mission. We’re desperate to assist this objective by way of our EV charging options whereas contributing to the event of sensible cities and cities of the longer term.” He added that collaborating with forward-thinking councils is crucial for increasing EV infrastructure and attaining a sustainable Scotland.

Cupboard Secretary for Transport Fiona Hyslop highlighted the impression of the funding thus far, stating, “I’m happy that over £7 million from the Scottish Authorities is enhancing public electrical car infrastructure within the north of Scotland. Our £30 million Electrical Car Infrastructure Fund has been totally allotted to assist collaborative efforts nationwide, with the objective of including round 6,000 public cost factors by 2030. Within the north, our funding has facilitated an modern partnership throughout 4 native authorities, anticipated to draw over £4.9 million in further personal sector funding over the subsequent three years to enhance the provision and reliability of public EV charging.”
