Li Auto (NASDAQ: LI) is making ready to launch its first all-electric SUV, the Li i8, anticipated to be accessible in July. This announcement comes as China’s Ministry of Business and Info Expertise (MIIT) has launched a brand new regulatory catalog for public remark, which incorporates the Li i8. Suggestions is invited from the general public between April 17-23, marking the ultimate regulatory step for the mannequin to be accredited on the market in China.

The Li i8 is detailed in a four-page entry within the catalog, that includes six-seat, dual-motor configurations produced at Li Auto’s manufacturing amenities in Beijing and Changzhou, Jiangsu province. The SUV measures 5,085 mm in size, 1,960 mm in width, and 1,740 mm in top, with a wheelbase of three,050 mm. These dimensions are a bit smaller in comparison with Nio’s (NYSE: NIO) sub-brand Onvo’s L90 electrical SUV, which measures 5,145 mm in size.

Weighing in at 2,580 kg or 2,610 kg, the Li i8 can attain a high pace of 180 km/h. It’s outfitted with lithium ternary batteries from suppliers like CATL and Sunwoda, although the precise battery capability stays undisclosed. The SUV options twin electrical motors: the entrance motor achieves a peak of 150 kW, whereas the rear motor peaks at 250 kW.

Following MIIT’s announcement, Li Auto launched official photographs of the Li i8 on Weibo, which depict a mid-to-large-size SUV. The mannequin will come normal with lithium ternary batteries that help 5C charging capabilities. At launch, Li Auto plans to have over 2,500 supercharging stations in China, having reported 2,083 supercharging stations at present in operation.

Moreover, the Li i8 will embrace next-generation LiDAR know-how that’s smaller, lighter, and extra environment friendly at detection. Li Auto is a major participant within the extended-range electrical car (EREV) market in China, primarily providing its L-series EREVs, together with the Li L6, L7, L8, and L9, that are all SUVs. The corporate additionally launched the Li Mega multi-purpose car (MPV) on March 1, 2024, marking its first battery electrical car (BEV) mannequin.

Li Auto plans to formally unveil the up to date Li Mega on the Shanghai auto present on April 23, with pre-sales having commenced on March 21.
