India: Jupiter Electric Mobility grabs an order for 300 electric mini trucks

JEM has delivered its preliminary batch of electrical mini vehicles to Pickkup as a part of a brand new settlement, particularly using its one-tonne mannequin, the Tez.

Previous to beginning deliveries this week, JEM carried out complete pilot runs to showcase the Tez’s capabilities on each intra-city and intercity routes, reaching a variety of as much as 220 km throughout testing.

The Tez incorporates a single motor that produces 80 kW and 265 Nm of torque, enabling the electrical automobile to succeed in a high pace of 80 kph. JEM affords two variants of the electrical mini truck: one tailor-made for B2B purposes and the opposite for retail use. The B2B model features a 14 kWh lithium titanate oxide (LTO) battery pack, offering a variety of 100 km, whereas the retail model is provided with a 28 kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery pack, permitting for double that distance.

Ankush Sharma, Co-founder and CEO of Pickkup, expressed his enthusiasm for the Tez, citing its CCS2 charging compatibility and talent to ship 30% extra vary on a single cost whereas supporting a payload of 1,050 kg. Notably, though JEM claims a most vary of 200 km, Sharma talked about that beneath particular intercity operations, the Tez can run as much as 250 km, although this doesn’t mirror the mixed vary. Pickkup operates in Delhi and the Nationwide Capital Area, in addition to Mohali and Chandigarh.

JEM is the electrical mobility division of Jupiter Wagons, a producer of railway freight wagons in India. Vivek Lohia, Managing Director of Jupiter Wagons, said that the partnership with Pickkup is a strategic initiative geared toward advancing India’s clear mobility targets, selling the widespread adoption of electrical business automobiles within the logistics sector. He emphasised the intent to determine a scalable and environmentally pleasant logistics ecosystem that helps financial progress for operators whereas decreasing carbon emissions.
