Infineon Applied sciences, identified for its semiconductor manufacturing for energy techniques and IoT purposes, will present energy modules for the traction inverters of Rivian’s R2 platform. This platform will incorporate each silicon carbide (SiC) and silicon (Si) modules from Infineon’s HybridPACK Drive G2 household, with deliveries anticipated to start in 2026.

The HybridPACK Drive is Infineon’s vary of energy modules designed particularly for electrical automobiles. Since 2017, the corporate has efficiently bought over 10.5 million items.

Along with the facility modules, Infineon can even provide Rivian’s new electrical car platform with AURIX TC3x microcontrollers and OPTIREG energy administration ICs.

To help this initiative, Infineon is developing a brand new 200-millimeter SiC energy fabrication plant in Kulim, Malaysia. This facility will share manufacturing applied sciences and processes with the prevailing plant in Villach, Austria, facilitating fast ramp-up and environment friendly SiC and gallium nitride (GaN) manufacturing.
