Chinese language battery producer CATL has unveiled a brand new standardized battery pack particularly designed for battery-swapping heavy-duty electrical vans.
Named the 75#, the brand new battery mannequin was launched on Sunday, promising the bottom lifecycle price per tonne-kilometer and distinctive security requirements. CATL claims that vans geared up with this battery can save roughly 0.62 yuan (round $0.13 AUD) per kilometer in comparison with diesel fashions, resulting in annual financial savings exceeding 60,000 yuan ($13,000 AUD) for high-mileage operators.
This new battery pack is appropriate with roughly 95% of mainstream automobiles and provides versatile configurations tailor-made to the precise wants of each the truck and its operator. CATL has already partnered with over ten automakers to introduce greater than 30 truck fashions that may make the most of this standardized battery.
CATL and the China Communications and Transportation Affiliation have formidable plans for this battery ecosystem, aiming for a 50% electrical penetration within the freight sector inside three years as a part of broader efforts to decarbonize transport.
To facilitate this fast adoption of battery-swap succesful vans, CATL intends to ascertain what it calls an “Eight Horizontal and Ten Vertical” community of swapping stations, protecting 150,000 kilometers of expressways and trunk roads throughout China. This community is predicted to serve round 80% of trunk line freight capability and can goal key areas together with Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei, the Yangtze River Delta, and the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Better Bay Space.
In 2023 alone, CATL plans to roll out 300 battery swap stations for heavy-duty vans.
