BYD plans to set up European headquarters in Hungary

BYD is about to determine its European headquarters and a brand new R&D heart in Budapest, Hungary, as a part of its technique to broaden its presence within the European market. This announcement was made in the course of the signing of a strategic cooperation settlement with the Hungarian authorities on Could 15, attended by Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban and BYD’s chairman Wang Chuanfu.

The headquarters will concentrate on three important areas: gross sales and after-sales service, car certification and testing, and the localization of design and have growth for automobiles. This initiative is anticipated to create 1000’s of jobs in Budapest and foster collaborations with not less than three Hungarian universities for coaching and academic alternatives.

Prime Minister Orban remarked that partnering with a frontrunner in electrical car expertise like China is essential for Hungary to advance into a brand new period of EV innovation. In December 2023, BYD introduced plans to construct a passenger NEV manufacturing facility in Szeged, Hungary, which might be developed in phases and is projected to generate 1000’s of native jobs. In January 2024, the corporate signed a land pre-purchase settlement with Szeged’s authorities for this new plant.

At the moment, BYD is supplying NEVs to Hungary by means of exports from China forward of the native manufacturing section.
