Stellantis to use solid-state batteries in Dodge Charger Daytona demo fleet

Stellantis, a serious European automotive producer, is about to introduce a fleet of recent Dodge Charger Daytona electrical autos (EVs) in 2026, that includes superior solid-state batteries developed by Factorial.

The collaboration between Stellantis and Factorial started in late 2021, with the purpose of enhancing solid-state battery expertise for electrical autos. Stellantis made a major funding of $75 million within the Massachusetts-based firm to additional this initiative.

This demonstration fleet will function a platform to validate Factorial’s expertise and consider its efficiency underneath real-world driving circumstances. The Daytonas will use cells based mostly on Factorial’s proprietary FEST solid-state battery expertise, which boasts a selected power density exceeding 390Wh/kg, offering a number of benefits in comparison with standard lithium-ion batteries.

Key advantages embody elevated power density, decreased weight, improved efficiency, and potential decrease total automobile prices in the long run. Siyu Huang, CEO and co-founder of Factorial, expressed confidence in solid-state expertise’s potential to boost the following technology of EVs by bettering efficiency whereas decreasing prices.

Stellantis plans to construct the Dodge Charger Daytona autos on its STLA Giant multi-energy platform, which is designed for high-volume electrical SUVs and efficiency autos. This platform is utilized by a number of Stellantis manufacturers, together with Dodge, Chrysler, Alfa Romeo, and Maserati.

“This demonstration fleet is a vital milestone in our partnership with Factorial,” acknowledged Ned Curic, Stellantis’ chief engineering and expertise officer.
